INGRÉDIENTS
Fish
- 🐟 140g horse mackerel fillets
- 🧂 Pinch of salt and pepper
- Enough salad oil for frying
- 🍋 2 wedges of lemon
Batter
- 🥚 1 beaten egg
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 💧 1 tbsp water
Coating
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 🧀 2 tbsp grated cheese
- 1 tsp dried basil
ÉTAPES
Pat the horse mackerel fillets dry with paper towels. Cut into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and pepper.
Mix the batter ingredients (egg, flour, water) in one tray. In another tray, mix the coating ingredients (breadcrumbs, cheese, basil).
Dip the fish pieces into the batter, then coat them with the breadcrumb mixture.
Heat salad oil in a frying pan to 170°C (about 2cm deep). Fry the coated fish for about 2 minutes on one side, then flip and fry for another 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
Serve the fried fish on a plate and garnish with lemon wedges.
