INGRÉDIENTS
Main
- 🐟 4 sardines, cleaned
- 🧅 1/4 onion, thinly sliced
- 🥕 4cm carrot, julienned
- 3 tbsp potato starch
- 5 tbsp salad oil
Nanban Sauce
- 🧂 1 tbsp sugar
- 3 tbsp vinegar
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- Pinch of sliced chili
- 💧 100ml water
Marinade
- 1 tbsp sake
- 🧂 Pinch of salt and pepper
- 1/2 tsp grated ginger
ÉTAPES
Thinly slice the onion and julienne the carrot. Prepare the sardines by butterflying them, removing the bones, and cutting them into halves.
Mix the onion, carrot, and all Nanban sauce ingredients in a bowl.
Prepare the marinade by mixing sake, salt, pepper, and ginger in a shallow tray.
Add the sardines to the marinade and let them sit for 5 minutes.
Remove the sardines, pat them dry, and coat them evenly with potato starch.
Heat salad oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the sardines for 2 minutes on each side until cooked through. Add the hot sardines to the Nanban sauce mixture and let them soak in the flavors.
