INGREDIENTS
Meat
- 1 pound ground pork
Spices
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Vegetables
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- 2 ounces shredded carrots
Baking & Cooking Basics
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons water
Oil
- 1 quart peanut oil for frying
Wraps
- 8 (7 inch square) egg roll wrappers
Optional Garnishes
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
STEPS
Season pork with ground ginger and garlic powder; mix thoroughly.
Cook seasoned pork in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes.
Combine cooked pork, shredded cabbage, and carrots in a large bowl.
Mix flour and water in a small bowl to form a paste.
Heat oil in a large skillet to about 375°F (190°C).
Lay egg roll wrapper (diamond orientation) on a flat surface. Place 1/4 to 1/3 cup filling at the center.
Fold bottom corner over filling, fold side corners inward, roll toward top corner, and seal with flour paste.
Fry egg rolls in hot oil, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy (5 to 8 minutes).
Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle sesame seeds as a garnish.
