    • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Sweet and Sour Sauce

    • 150cc water
    • 1 tbsp sake
    • 2 tbsp sugar
    • 2 tbsp vinegar
    • 1/2 tsp chicken stock powder
    • 2 tbsp soy sauce
    • 1/2 tbsp cornstarch

Cut the lotus root into 7mm half-moon slices, soak in water, and dry thoroughly. Mince the green onion and ginger.

Mix ground meat, green onion, ginger, and seasoning ingredients (egg, sake, salt, cornstarch) in a bowl until sticky. Divide into 12 portions and shape into balls. Lightly coat with cornstarch.

Heat salad oil to 170°C and fry lotus root for 2 minutes until golden. Remove and heat oil to 160°C. Fry meatballs for 4–5 minutes until browned, then increase heat to crisp the surface for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

In a frying pan, mix sauce ingredients (water, sake, sugar, vinegar, chicken stock, soy sauce, cornstarch) and heat over medium until thickened. Add fried lotus root and meatballs, coating evenly. Finish with sesame oil.
