    • 1/2 tbsp water

Cut potatoes into bite-sized pieces and soak in water. Drain. Peel the bottom half of asparagus and slice diagonally.

Make a slit in the mentaiko and scoop out the contents with a spoon.

Cut cheddar cheese slices into 5 equal pieces.

Place potatoes in a microwave-safe container, cover loosely with plastic wrap, and microwave at 600W for 8 minutes. Mash while hot, then mix with mentaiko and mayonnaise to create a taramo salad. Let cool.

Place 1/10 of the taramo salad, a piece of cheddar cheese, and 1/10 of the asparagus on a spring roll wrapper. Roll tightly, sealing the ends and seam with the flour-water mixture. Repeat to make 10 rolls.

Heat salad oil in a frying pan to about 1cm depth over medium heat. Fry the rolls for about 3 minutes, turning until golden brown.
