Trim the asparagus ends, peel tough parts, and cut into 3cm pieces. Halve the garlic, remove the core, and crush with the flat side of a knife.

Cut the boiled octopus into bite-sized pieces.

Heat olive oil, garlic, salt, and chili in a pot over low heat until fragrant. Add octopus and asparagus, then simmer over medium heat for 3–5 minutes until asparagus is cooked.
