Prepare a large tray with water and salt. Submerge clams and cover with aluminum foil for 30 minutes. Scrub clams under water to clean shells and drain.
Place clams and sake in a frying pan. Cover and cook over medium heat for 5–6 minutes until clams open. Add soy sauce and butter, stirring until butter melts.
Serve on a plate and garnish with chopped green onion.
