Meat
- 🐖 100g thinly sliced pork belly
Vegetables
- 🥬 180g roughly chopped cabbage
- 150g grated yam
Seafood
- 25g mentaiko (1/2 piece)
Oil
- 1 tbsp salad oil
Batter
- 🌾 100g all-purpose flour
- 🥚 1 egg
- 2 tbsp tempura flakes
- 💧 100ml water
- 1 tsp Japanese dashi powder
Toppings
- Okonomiyaki sauce, as needed
- Mayonnaise, as needed
- Bonito flakes, as needed
- Aonori (seaweed flakes), as needed
चरण
Chop the cabbage roughly and grate the yam.
Cut the mentaiko into 4 pieces and slice the pork belly into 4cm strips.
In a bowl, mix water, dashi powder, and grated yam using a whisk. Add egg, flour, tempura flakes, and cabbage, then gently mix with chopsticks.
Heat salad oil in a frying pan and pour in part of the batter. Spread it into a circle, layer pork slices and mentaiko on top, then cover with the remaining batter. Cook on medium heat until browned.
Flip the okonomiyaki using a plate and cook the other side for 5 minutes on low-medium heat with a lid.
Remove the lid, flip again, and cook for 1-2 minutes on medium heat until crispy.
Serve on a plate and add toppings: okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, bonito flakes, and aonori.
