Soak pork ribs in water for at least 30 minutes to remove blood.
Place pork ribs in a pot and add enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil, then add 1/2 cup cooking wine and boil for 10 minutes.
Prepare the soy sauce marinade by mixing 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/3 cup cooking wine, 5 tbsp corn syrup, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp minced garlic, and chopped green onion.
Rinse the parboiled pork ribs and arrange them neatly in a pot. Add thinly sliced onion on top.
Pour the soy sauce marinade over the ribs and add 4 cups of water. Cook on high heat for about 40 minutes.
Occasionally stir the ribs to ensure even cooking. Cook until the sauce is almost reduced.
