INGREDIENTS
Dry Ingredients
- 🌾 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 🍚 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
Wet and Fat Ingredients
- 🧈 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 ounces cold cream cheese
- 🥛 1 1/2 cups whole buttermilk
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a large bowl until combined.
Add butter and cream cheese to the dry mixture and mix with a pastry cutter or two forks until crumbly.
Pour in the buttermilk and gently stir until the dough is shaggy and slightly sticky.
Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface, knead a few times, and roll to a thickness of 3/4 inch.
Cut into 12 biscuits using a 3-inch cutter, rerolling dough scraps if necessary. Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the tops with remaining buttermilk and bake in the preheated oven for 15-17 minutes until golden brown.
