INGREDIENTS
Vegetables & Condiments
- 4 cups shredded cabbage
- 🧅 2 onions, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 🧂 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 pinch ground black pepper
Proteins
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 8 slices bacon
Grains & Liquids
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- ½ cup white rice
- 💧 1 cup water
- 1 (14 ounce) can tomato sauce
STEPS
Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C) and grease an 8x12-inch baking dish.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook ground beef until browned and no longer pink, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess grease.
Stir in onions, water, tomato sauce, garlic, salt, and black pepper; bring to a simmer. Add rice, cover, and cook for 10 minutes.
Spread half the shredded cabbage in the prepared baking dish. Cover with half the beef mixture. Repeat layers and top with bacon slices.
Cover dish with aluminum foil and bake in preheated oven for 90 minutes or until the bacon is crispy and cabbage tender.
