INGREDIENTS
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 🧂 ½ teaspoon salt
Fat
- ½ cup shortening
Liquid
- 🥛 ¾ cup cold milk
STEPS
Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) and gather all ingredients.
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together in a large mixing bowl. Use a fork or pastry blender to cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Pour milk into the flour mixture and stir with a fork. Mix until dough is soft, moist, and pulls away from the bowl.
Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it briefly (5 to 7 times).
Roll the dough into a 1/2-inch-thick sheet and use a floured cookie cutter to cut out biscuits. Re-roll unused dough to repeat cutting.
Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes until golden brown.
