INGREDIENTS
Meat
- 12 frozen 1-inch party meatballs
Condiments
- 1 (18 ounce) bottle BBQ sauce
Bread
- 1 (12 count) package Hawaiian bread rolls
Dairy
- 🧀 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- 🧀 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Vegetables
- 12 dill pickle slices
- 3 tablespoons sliced green onions
Others
- ½ cup crispy onion strips
- 🧈 3 tablespoons butter, melted, divided
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Combine meatballs and BBQ sauce in a small sauce pan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 10 minutes or until the meatballs are heated through.
Slice rolls in half lengthwise, leaving the rolls connected. Brush some butter on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish; place the bottom half of the rolls in the dish.
Spoon out some BBQ sauce and spread it lightly over the bread. Combine Cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese, sprinkle 1/2 of the cheese mixture over the sauce.
Top with pickles and evenly sprinkle crispy onion strips. Place the top half of rolls over the onion layer after cutting small holes for the meatballs.
Stir garlic powder into the remaining melted butter and brush it over the rolls. Spoon one meatball and about 1 teaspoon BBQ sauce into each hole of the roll.
Cover with foil and bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, uncovering halfway through to melt cheese fully. Sprinkle green onions on top after baking.
