INGREDIENTS
Dough Ingredients
- 💧 1 ¼ cups water
- 🧬 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 🍬 1 ½ tablespoons white sugar
- 🌾 3 cups bread flour
- 🧂 1 teaspoon salt
- 🥛 1 teaspoon powdered milk
Filling Ingredients
- 🌭 ¾ cup sliced Italian sausage
- 🍅 ¾ cup pizza sauce
- 🧀 1 ¼ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Additional Ingredients
- 🧈 2 tablespoons butter, melted
STEPS
Place water, yeast, sugar, flour, salt, and powdered milk in the bread machine pan following the manufacturer's order. Select Dough cycle.
Brown Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes. Drain excess fat and reserve.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Roll out bread machine dough on a lightly floured surface into a 16x10-inch rectangle. Transfer to a greased cookie sheet.
Spread pizza sauce along the center of the dough, add browned sausage and top with shredded mozzarella. Make diagonal cuts along the edges, criss-crossing strips, and seal with water.
Brush calzone with melted butter and bake in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 35-45 minutes until golden brown.
Let the calzone cool for 5 minutes, slice, and serve.
