INGREDIENTS
Pudding
- 1 tablespoon margarine
- 5 slices whole wheat bread
- 🥚 3 eggs
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 🧂 1 dash salt
- 🥛 2 cups milk, non-fat, warmed
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Vanilla Sauce
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 💧 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon margarine
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
STEPS
Wash your hands with soap and water.
Melt margarine in a medium-sized skillet over low heat.
Tear bread into pieces and spread on the bottom of the skillet.
Beat eggs and stir in sugar, salt, warmed milk, and vanilla extract.
Sprinkle raisins over torn bread and pour egg mixture over everything.
Cover the skillet and cook over very low heat for 20 minutes.
Check if the pudding is set in the middle; this means it's done. Allow to cool in the skillet.
Prepare vanilla sauce by combining cornstarch and sugar in a small saucepan.
Gradually add water while stirring well, then cook over medium-low heat until thick and clear.
Add margarine and vanilla extract to the sauce, stirring until margarine melts. Remove from heat.
Spoon vanilla sauce over individual servings of the bread pudding.
