INGREDIENTS
Broth and Seasoning
- 2 (15 ounce) cans chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules
- 🧂 ½ teaspoon sea salt
- 🧂 ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon ground thyme
- ½ teaspoon dried marjoram
- 🧄 ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Vegetables
- 🥕 ½ cup sliced carrots
- 🥔 1 cup peeled and diced potatoes
- 🧅 ½ cup chopped onion
- ½ cup sliced celery
Base Ingredients
- 🧈 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 🥛 1 ½ cups milk
- 1 (15 ounce) can cream-style corn
Others
- 1 (8 ounce) package shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup diced cooked ham
STEPS
Combine chicken broth, carrots, chicken bouillon, bay leaves, sea salt, pepper, thyme, marjoram, and garlic powder in a Dutch oven. Bring to a boil, lower to medium heat, and simmer for 10 minutes.
Add potatoes and onion, then cook an additional 10 minutes.
Stir in celery and cook until vegetables are fork-tender, about 10 minutes.
Melt butter in a separate saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and whisk in flour until smooth.
Return the saucepan to medium heat, gradually whisk in milk, and cook, whisking constantly, until thickened (6-7 minutes).
Combine the milk mixture into the vegetable mixture. Add corn, shredded cheese, and ham. Lower heat to simmer and cook until cheese is melted and ham is warmed through (10-15 minutes).
