INGREDIENTS
Brownie Batter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 7/8 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 10 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 🥚 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
Pecan Pie Filling
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 🥚 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
- 2 1/2 cups pecans
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and grease lightly.
In a bowl, mix white sugar, cocoa powder, kosher salt, and melted butter until combined. The texture should look grainy.
Add vanilla extract and eggs one at a time. Whisk on high speed until the batter is thick, glossy, and smooth.
Mix in flour until just incorporated. Evenly spread the brownie batter into the prepared pan.
Bake brownie base for 20 minutes. Remove and let cool on a wire rack.
Increase oven temperature to 350°F (180°C).
Prepare the pecan pie filling by whisking brown sugar, salt, vanilla extract, corn syrup, eggs, and melted salted butter until smooth.
Fold in pecans, pour the mixture over brownie base, and gently spread evenly.
Bake at 350°F for approximately 1 hour until pecan pie filling is almost set. Jiggle should be minimal in the center.
Cool completely for 30 minutes. Chill for better results before slicing into 16 squares.
