INGREDIENTS
Main Ingredients
- 12 wooden pop sticks
- 🍒 1 cup pitted tart red cherries, chopped
- 🧂 3 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 💧 2 tablespoons water
- ½ teaspoon almond extract
- 1 (15 ounce) package prepared pie crusts
Glaze
- 🧂 ½ cup confectioners' sugar
- 🥛 1 tablespoon milk, or as needed
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon multicolored candy sprinkles
STEPS
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Soak wooden pop sticks in water.
Place cherries in a saucepan and add white sugar, cornstarch, water, and almond extract. Cook over medium heat until thickened, about 2 minutes. Cool the mixture.
Roll out pie crusts on a floured surface into 11-inch circles and cut into 18 rectangles (1 1/2-inch by 2-inch).
Place 18 rectangles on a baking sheet and set a wooden pop stick on each. Add 1 teaspoon of cherry filling onto each rectangle. Top with another rectangle and seal edges with a fork.
Bake tarts for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly browned. Allow to cool completely.
Mix confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make a glaze. Spread over tarts, top with candy sprinkles, and let glaze set for several hours.

💡 Ensure the pop sticks are soaked before using to prevent burning.Allow the filling to cool before assembling to avoid tearing the pie crust. For a thicker glaze, adjust the amount of milk used. These tarts can be made without the sticks for a more traditional mini tart.
