INGREDIENTS
Meat
- 200g ground pork
Vegetables
- 🌽 1 ear of corn (200g)
- đź§… 1/2 onion, minced
- 🍄 2 shiitake mushrooms, minced
Seasonings
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- Mustard, as needed
Meat Mixture Seasonings
- 1 tbsp sake
- đź§‚ 1/3 tsp salt
- A pinch of pepper
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp potato starch
Coating
- 2 tbsp potato starch
STEPS
Cut the corn in half, remove kernels, and loosen them. Coat the kernels with potato starch in a plastic bag.
Mince the onion and microwave it in a heatproof container for 30 seconds at 600W. Let it cool. Mince the shiitake mushrooms.
In a bowl, mix ground pork, onion, shiitake mushrooms, and meat mixture seasonings until sticky. Divide into 12 portions and shape into balls.
Coat the meatballs with corn kernels evenly around the surface.
Boil water in a pot, line a steamer with corn husks, place the shumai inside, and steam for 12 minutes over medium heat.
Serve on a plate with soy sauce and mustard on the side.
