INGREDIENTS
Dry ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 🧂 ¼ teaspoon salt
Wet ingredients
- 🥛 ¾ cup half-and-half cream
- 🥚 1 egg
Add-ins
- 🧈 ¼ cup butter, chilled and diced
- 🍒 1 cup fresh cranberries, roughly chopped
- 🍬 ⅓ cup white sugar
- 🍊 Grated zest of 1 orange
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
STEPS
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, stir together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Toss cranberries with sugar in a separate bowl; add to flour mixture along with orange peel and walnuts. Mix lightly.
In another bowl, beat cream and egg together; pour slowly into the dry ingredients, mixing cautiously until dough forms. Knead dough 4-5 times gently.
Divide dough in half, shape each piece into a 6-inch circle on a floured surface, and cut each circle into 6 wedges. Place wedges on greased baking sheets.
Bake in preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
