INGREDIENTS
Protein
- 🐄 1 pound lean ground beef
Vegetables
- 🧅 2 small onions, chopped
- 1 cup chopped green bell pepper
Grains
- 🍚 1 cup long grain white rice
Liquids
- 💧 2 cups water
Seasonings
- 1 tablespoon Creole seasoning
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
Canned Goods
- 2 (15.5 ounce) cans black-eyed peas, drained
STEPS

Crumble ground beef into a deep skillet or large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onions and green pepper. Cook, stirring, until brown. Drain and discard grease.

Add rice and water. Season with Creole seasoning, pepper, and garlic powder. Bring to a boil, cover, and reduce heat to low.

Simmer until water is absorbed, about 30 minutes. About halfway through cooking, stir in peas and continue to cook until warmed through.
