INGREDIENTS
Pastry
- 1 (14.1 ounce) package pastry for a 9-inch double-crust pie
Sweeteners
- ¾ cup white sugar

- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

STEPS
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
Prepare the pie dish by lining it with one pastry crust; set the second crust aside.
Mix ¾ cup sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl. Adjust sugar to taste if apples are tart.
Layer apple slices into the pie dish, sprinkling each layer with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Dot the top layer with small pieces of butter. Cover with the top crust.
Bake on the lowest rack of the oven for 10 minutes at 450°F (230°C).
Reduce oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking until the pie is golden brown and the filling bubbles, 30–35 minutes.
Serve warm or cold.
