INGREDIENTS
Base
- 1 unbaked 9 inch pie crust
Meat
- 🥓 6 slices bacon
Vegetables
- 🧅 1 onion, chopped
Liquid
- 🥛 1 ½ cups milk
Eggs
- 🥚 3 large eggs, beaten
Seasonings
- 🧂 ¼ teaspoon salt
Cheese
- 1 ½ cups shredded Swiss cheese
Thickener
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
Line pie crust with a double layer of aluminum foil. Bake for 8 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 4-5 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 325°F (165°C).
Cook bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned, about 10 minutes. Drain on paper towels, crumble, and set aside.
Reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the skillet, cook and stir onion until tender, then drain and set aside.
In a large bowl, mix milk, eggs, and salt. Stir in bacon and onion.
Toss Swiss cheese with flour in a bowl, then add to egg mixture. Pour into the par-baked crust.
Bake in the oven until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, about 35-40 minutes. Cover crust edges with foil if browning too much.
Let quiche cool for 10 minutes before serving.
