- 🍫 10 (1 ounce) squares semi-sweet chocolate

- 🧈 ¾ cup unsalted butter, cubed

- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

- 🥚 5 eggs, separated

- ¼ cup sifted all-purpose flour

- 1 dash cream of tartar

STEPS
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Generously grease a 9-inch springform cake tin and dust with a little sugar.
In a large pan, melt chocolate, butter, and remaining sugar over moderate heat until smooth. Stir in vanilla and cool slightly.
Beat egg yolks into chocolate mixture, one at a time, then stir in flour.
Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt until stiff peaks form. Fold 1/3 of whites into chocolate mixture, then carefully fold in the rest.
Pour batter into the prepared tin, tap to release air bubbles, and bake for 45 to 60 minutes. Rotate cake after 30 to 35 minutes if uneven.
Cool cake completely on a wire rack before removing from tin. Dust with confectioners' sugar before serving.
