INGREDIENTS
Dry Ingredients
- 3 ⅔ cups all-purpose flour, divided
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 🧂 ½ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 🥛 2 cups milk
- 🥚 3 large eggs
- ¼ cup white sugar
Cooking
- 🛢 1 quart vegetable oil for frying, or as needed
- 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar, or as needed
STEPS
Gather all ingredients.
Mix together 1/2 of the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
Beat together milk, eggs, and sugar in a large bowl. Add flour mixture and beat until smooth. Add remaining flour until the batter is runny enough to flow through a funnel.
Heat oil to 375°F (190°C) in an 8-inch skillet. Fill a funnel with 1/2 cup batter, release batter into hot oil while making a circular motion, and fry until golden brown (1 to 2 minutes).
Turn the cake over carefully and fry the other side for about 1 minute. Repeat for all batter.
Drain cake on paper towels and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar before serving.
