INGREDIENTS
French Toast Base

- 🍞 4 cups whole-grain or challah bread cubes
Toasted Pecan Butter
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 🧈 1 cup butter
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Streusel Topping
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 🧈 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
STEPS
Grease 4 ramekins and prepare French toast mixture by whisking together milk, eggs, maple syrup, bourbon, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Toss bread cubes in mixture and divide among ramekins. Chill for at least 2 hours or up to overnight.
Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and toast pecans for the butter on a baking sheet for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fragrant and lightly browned. Let them cool.
Make Toasted Pecan Butter by processing butter, brown sugar, vanilla, and cooled pecans in a food processor until cohesive. Store in a chilled airtight container.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare streusel topping by combining flour, brown sugar, and cutting in butter until crumbly. Mix in pecans.
Sprinkle streusel mixture over French toast ramekins and bake for 30 minutes until puffed and set.
