INGREDIENTS
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 🧂 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- ⅓ cup shortening or butter
- 🥛 1 cup milk
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually stir in milk until the dough pulls away from the side of the bowl.
Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead 15 to 20 times. Pat or roll the dough out to 1 inch thick. Cut biscuits using a large cutter or flour-dipped juice glass. Repeat until all dough is used. Brush off excess flour, and place biscuits onto an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven until edges begin to brown, approximately 13 to 15 minutes.

💡 Serve with butter, preserves, honey, or gravy for added flavor. For even fluffier biscuits, chill the dough before baking.Don't over-knead the dough, as it can make the biscuits dense.
