INGREDIENTS
Wet Ingredients
- 🥛 1 cup warm milk
- ÂĽ cup vegetable oil
- 🥚 1 medium egg
Dry Ingredients
- 🍬 ¼ cup fine white sugar
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 🧂 ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
- 🌾 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour, sifted
For Frying
- 2 quarts vegetable oil for frying, or as needed
STEPS
Combine warm milk, vegetable oil, sugar, egg, instant yeast, salt, and cardamom in a large bowl. Gradually mix in flour 1 cup at a time until the dough is easily handled.
Knead the dough on a flat surface until it becomes non-sticky. Return to the bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Press the dough down gently, knead briefly again, and divide it into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball, keeping them covered to prevent drying.
Roll out one dough ball on a floured surface into a 1/3-inch-thick circle and cut into 4 triangles. Repeat for the other dough balls, keeping them covered.
Heat 2 inches of oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan over medium heat.
Working in batches, fry triangles in hot oil until puffed and lightly golden on each side (1-2 minutes per side). Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
