INGREDIENTS
Beef
- 🐂 3 pounds beef top round
Liquid Ingredients
- 🧂 ⅔ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring
Spices
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 🧅 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 🧄 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons finely ground black pepper
STEPS
Freeze beef for 20 minutes to make slicing easier. Slice beef, against the grain, into ¼-inch thick strips.
Whisk soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, liquid smoke, onion powder, chili powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and black pepper in a large bowl. Add beef strips and toss to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator, stirring twice, for 18 to 24 hours.
Preheat dehydrator to 160°F (70°C) as per manufacturer's instructions.
Remove beef strips from marinade, shake off excess, and arrange on dehydrator trays. Discard leftover marinade. Dehydrate beef strips until dried, for about 8 hours.
