INGREDIENTS
Pasta
- 🍝 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
Dairy
- 🧈 4 tablespoons butter
- 🥛 2 cups milk
- 🧀 ¼ pound processed cheese food
- 🧀 ¼ pound shredded Cheddar cheese
- 🧀 ¼ pound shredded Swiss cheese
Vegetables
- 🧅 ¼ onion, minced
Seasoning
- 🧂 Salt and pepper to taste
Other
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the elbow macaroni according to the package directions.
Meanwhile, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir in the flour until a cream-colored paste forms.
Pour in the milk and stir constantly until this comes to a hard boil. Stir for 1 more minute, then remove from heat and set aside.
When the macaroni is cooked, spread half of it into the bottom of a lightly greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
Layer half of the minced onion, salt and pepper, and each of the cheeses on top. Repeat this process one more time.
Pour the white sauce over all the layers and top with small pats of butter, if desired.
Cover and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes.
