INGREDIENTS
Chicken and Seasoning
- 🍗 1 1/4 pounds chicken tenders, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 🧂 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Base and Sauce
- 💧 1 1/2 cups water, plus more as needed
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons oil, divided
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 🧄 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper, plus more for garnish
- 8 ounces linguine pasta
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
STEPS
Season the chicken with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Whisk together 1 1/2 cups water, soy sauce, and vinegar in a bowl and set aside.
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned on all sides. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
Add the remaining oil and sesame oil to the skillet. Add garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in crushed red pepper.
Add pasta to the skillet and coat well in the garlic mixture. Stir in the reserved soy sauce mixture. Scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet, bring to a boil, and reduce to a simmer.
Add the chicken and accumulated juices back into the skillet. Add brown sugar, stirring occasionally, until pasta is cooked and sauce is thickened (10-12 minutes). Add more water as necessary. Garnish with sesame seeds and crushed red pepper if desired.

💡 Adjust the level of crushed red pepper to control the spiciness. If the sauce reduces too much, you can add a splash of water or chicken broth to keep it saucy. This recipe can also be made with shrimp or tofu for a variation.
