INGREDIENTS
Bread
- 🍞 16 slices bread, crusts removed
Meat
- 🥓 16 slices Canadian bacon
Dairy
- 🧀 16 slices sharp Cheddar cheese
- 🥚 6 large eggs
- 🥛 3 cups whole milk
Seasoning
- 🧂 ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 dash hot sauce
Vegetables
- 🧅 ¼ cup minced onion
- 2 tablespoons diced green bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons diced red bell pepper
Other
- 🧈 ½ cup butter, melted
- 1 cup crushed corn flakes cereal
STEPS
Butter a 9x13-inch baking dish. Cut and fit 8 slices of bread to cover the bottom of the dish. Add a layer of Canadian bacon and cheese. Cover with the remaining 8 slices of bread.
Whisk eggs with salt, pepper, dry mustard, minced onion, diced green and red bell peppers, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce in a bowl. Add milk and mix until smooth. Pour this egg mixture over the layers of bread and cover. Refrigerate overnight.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Pour melted butter evenly over the casserole and sprinkle crushed corn flakes on top.
Bake in preheated oven for about 1 hour until set and lightly browned. Let the casserole stand for 10 minutes before serving.
