INGREDIENTS
Wet Ingredients
- 🥛 ½ cup heavy cream
- 🧈 ¾ cup butter, softened
- 🍋 ½ lemon, juiced
- ⅔ cup maple flavored syrup
Dry Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups poppy seeds
- 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour
- 🧂 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
STEPS
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
Combine heavy cream and poppy seeds in a small saucepan. Heat mixture over medium heat until hot, but do not boil. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
In a medium bowl, combine whole wheat flour, baking soda, and cinnamon.
Stir in softened butter, lemon juice, and maple syrup into the dry ingredient mixture. Mix well.
Add the cooled poppy seed mixture to the combined dough. Mix thoroughly.
Drop small spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven until edges are golden brown, about 20 minutes.
Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
