INGREDIENTS
Dry Ingredients
- 🍞 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 🧂 1 pinch salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Wet Ingredients
- 🥛 1 cup buttermilk
STEPS
Heat a heavy skillet, griddle, or cast-iron frying pan over medium-low heat.
Stir the flour and salt together in a bowl, and sift in the baking soda. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture, and pour in the buttermilk. Stir quickly to form a dough.
Turn out the dough onto a floured work surface. Knead a few times until it comes together. Form into a flattened, round cake about 1/2 inch thick and cut into quarters with a floured knife.
Sprinkle a bit of flour into the skillet. Cook the dough wedges for 6 to 8 minutes per side until golden brown.

💡 If buttermilk is not available, you can substitute 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice.Ensure your skillet is pre-heated for even cooking.Don't over-knead the dough. It should just come together to form a cohesive ball.
