INGREDIENTS
For the Spiced Simple Syrup
- 💧 1 cup water
- ¼ cup Truvia® natural sweetener spoonable
- 6 whole cloves
- 6 whole black peppercorns, crushed
- 3 whole allspice berries, crushed
For the Sangria
- 🍷 1 (750 milliliter) bottle red wine
- ¾ cup spiced simple syrup
- 💧 3 cups sparkling water
- 🍊 ¼ cup fresh orange juice
- 🍊 1 orange, thinly sliced
- 🍋 1 lemon, thinly sliced
- 🍈 1 lime, thinly sliced
- 2 cups ice cubes
STEPS
Prepare the Spiced Simple Syrup: Place water, Truvia®, cloves, crushed peppercorns, and crushed allspice berries in a medium saucepot. Stir well.
Place the mixture on high heat until it comes to a boil. Then, reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Remove the pot from heat and allow the syrup to cool completely.
Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer to remove spices. Pour the strained syrup into a jar, seal tightly, and refrigerate. Shake before using.
Prepare the sangria: Combine the red wine, ¾ cup of the prepared spiced simple syrup, sparkling water, orange juice, and the sliced orange, lemon, and lime in a large pitcher. Stir briskly.
Serve the sangria over ice cubes in large red wine glasses.
