INGREDIENTS
Main Ingredients
- 2.5 cups rice cakes
- š¦ 8 shrimp
- 1 octopus
- š§ 1/2 onion
- 1 green onion
- 4 shiitake mushrooms
- 2 bok choy
- Vegetable oil as needed
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Seasoning
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp corn syrup
- 1/2 tbsp minced garlic
- 3 tbsp cooking wine
- 9 tbsp water
- 6 pepper flakes
- Black pepper to taste
Rice Cake Marinade
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp corn syrup
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
STEPS
Prepare all ingredients including rice cakes, shrimp, octopus, onion, green onion, shiitake mushrooms, bok choy, vegetable oil, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and seasonings.
Blanch hard rice cakes in boiling water for 2 minutes. Skip this step if using soft rice cakes.
Marinate the blanched rice cakes with soy sauce, corn syrup, and sesame oil.
Prepare the sauce by mixing soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, corn syrup, minced garlic, cooking wine, water, pepper flakes, and black pepper.
Heat vegetable oil in a pan and sautĆ© the onion over medium heat for 2ā3 minutes.
Add the marinated rice cakes, shrimp, and octopus to the pan and stir-fry over medium heat.
Add shiitake mushrooms, green onion, and the prepared sauce. Stir-fry for 1ā2 minutes.
Add bok choy and stir-fry until it wilts.
Turn off the heat and mix in sesame oil and sesame seeds.
Plate the seafood soy sauce tteokbokki and serve warm.
