INGREDIENTS
Main
- 🍤 100g peeled shrimp
- 25g mentaiko (1/2 piece)
- đź§€ 30g pizza cheese
- 🥬 150g chopped cabbage
- 1 tbsp salad oil
Batter
- 100g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp Japanese dashi powder
- đź’§ 100cc water
- 🥚 1 egg
- 2 tbsp tempura flakes
Toppings
- Okonomiyaki sauce as needed
- Mayonnaise as needed
- Bonito flakes as needed
- Aonori seaweed as needed
STEPS
Chop the cabbage into coarse pieces.
Cut the mentaiko into 4 equal pieces.
Drain the peeled shrimp to remove excess water.
In a bowl, mix flour, dashi powder, and water. Add egg, tempura flakes, and cabbage, then mix gently to incorporate air. Add shrimp and mentaiko and mix to form the batter.
Heat salad oil in a frying pan, spread the batter into a round shape, and top with pizza cheese. Cook over medium heat until golden brown.
Flip the okonomiyaki, cover with a lid, and cook over low-medium heat until the cheese is crispy and the batter is cooked through.
Remove the lid, flip again, and cook for 1-2 minutes to crisp up the surface.
Serve on a plate and add desired toppings (okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, bonito flakes, and aonori).
