INGREDIENTS
Meat
- 200g ground pork
Vegetables
- 2 turnips with leaves
- 1/2 green onion
Cooking Oil
- 1/2 tbsp salad oil
Meatball Seasoning
- 1 tbsp sake
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp grated ginger
- A pinch of pepper
- 1 tbsp potato starch
Miso Sauce
- 1 tbsp sake
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp miso
- 1 tsp Japanese dashi powder
- 150ml water
Thickening Agent
- 1 tbsp potato starch
- 2 tbsp water
STEPS
Cut the turnip roots into wedges and mince the leaves. Peel and chop the green onion finely.
Mix ground pork, green onion, and meatball seasoning ingredients in a bowl until sticky. Divide into 8 portions and shape into balls using oiled hands.
Heat salad oil in a pan over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook for 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally. Add miso sauce ingredients and bring to a simmer. Add turnips, cover, and cook on low heat for 4 minutes.
Add the thickening agent and stir until the sauce thickens. Serve on a plate and garnish with minced turnip leaves.
