INGREDIENTS
Rolls and Cheese
- 1 (12-count) package rolls
- 24 small slices sharp Cheddar cheese
Filling Base
- 1 teaspoon olive or avocado oil
- 1 pound 80% lean ground beef
- 🧅 1/2 large white onion
- 🧄 2 teaspoons garlic paste
- 🍅 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder and/or cumin
- 💧 3/4 cup water
Glaze
- 🧈 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 🍅 1 teaspoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
STEPS
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut rolls in half; place bottom halves on the sheet and top with a slice of cheese on each.
Cover the baking sheet with rolls using a tea towel while preparing the filling.
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chopped onion and sauté for 1 minute. Add ground beef and cook until browned and crumbly, breaking it up, for approximately 5-7 minutes. Drain grease.
Stir garlic paste into the drained mixture and lower heat to medium-low.
Combine ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and chili powder in a bowl. Add to the beef mixture and stir in water.
Simmer until thickened to taste, about 5-10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
Add a heaping spoonful of meat mixture over cheese on the bottom roll halves. Place another slice of cheese on top and complete the sliders with roll tops.
Mix glaze ingredients in a bowl and brush over the tops of rolls. Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds for decoration, if desired.
Bake sliders, uncovered, for about 20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and tops are nicely browned.
Serve with BBQ sauce, ketchup, or mustard for dipping.
