INGREDIENTS
Spices
- 3 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
Protein
- 1 ½ pounds beef brisket
Sauces
- ¾ cup barbeque sauce
- ¼ cup water (Optional)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
Vegetables
- 🧅 ½ onion, sliced into rings
STEPS
Gather all ingredients.
Mix paprika, pepper, salt, brown sugar, chili powder, and cumin together in a bowl to prepare the brisket rub. Rub evenly over the brisket, then put it in a resealable plastic bag and refrigerate for 30 minutes to overnight.
Prepare the barbeque sauce by stirring together the barbeque sauce, water (optional), Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke in the bottom of a slow cooker.
Remove the brisket from the refrigerator, take it out of the bag, and lay it in the sauce in the slow cooker. Arrange onion slices over the top.
Cook on Low until the brisket is very tender, approximately 6 to 7 hours.
Let the brisket rest for 10 minutes before slicing or shredding. Serve with sauce from the slow cooker.
