INGREDIENTS
Main Ingredients
- 2-3 cups tteokbokki rice cakes
- 2 sheets fish cake
- đź§… 1/2 onion, sliced
- đź’§ 3-4 cups water
- đź§… A small amount of green onion
Seasoning
- 3 tbsp jajang powder
- 0.5 tbsp gochujang
- 0.5 tbsp red pepper flakes
- đź§„ 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 1 tbsp rice wine
Optional Ingredients
- 🥚 1 boiled egg
STEPS
Mix jajang powder, gochujang, red pepper flakes, minced garlic, mirin, and rice wine in a bowl to create the sauce.
Slice fish cake into bite-sized pieces and thinly slice the onion. Rinse the rice cakes 2-3 times in water. If frozen, blanch them in hot water before use.
Bring 3-4 cups of water to a boil in a pot. Add the rice cakes and boil for 2-3 minutes.
Add the sliced onion and fish cake to the pot and let it simmer.
Add the prepared sauce to the pot and stir until fully dissolved.
Let the rice cakes absorb the sauce by simmering for 5-7 minutes.
Add green onion and simmer for a few more minutes to finish.
Serve the jajang tteokbokki hot and enjoy!
