INGREDIENTS
Dough Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- 🥚 2 eggs
- 2 ¾ cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 🧂 ½ teaspoon salt
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease cookie sheets.
Cream together shortening and sugar in a medium bowl. Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition.
Sift together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Stir this into the creamed mixture until well blended.
In a small shallow bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon for the coating.
Roll the dough into walnut-sized balls and coat them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place balls 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until cookies are slightly golden at the edges.
Remove cookies to cool on wire racks.
