INGREDIENTS
Main Ingredients
- 🦑 2 squids
- đź§… 1 onion
- 1 green onion
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- đź’§ 4 tbsp water
- 🍚 2 servings of rice
Seasoning
- 3.5 tbsp gochujang
- 4 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- đź§„ 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 1.5 tbsp corn syrup
- a pinch of black pepper
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
STEPS
Mix all seasoning ingredients to create the sauce. Prepare this ahead for better flavor.
Slice the onion thinly and cut the green onion into similar-sized pieces.
Clean the squid, separate the body and legs, and peel the skin. Cut the body into thick slices and the legs into bite-sized pieces.
Score the inside of the squid body with an X pattern and prepare cornstarch water by mixing 3 tbsp cornstarch with 4 tbsp water.
Heat a wok over medium-high heat, add 1 tbsp cooking oil, and stir-fry the squid and onion until the squid turns white.
Add the sauce and 1 cup of water, then mix well. Let it boil and add the green onion.
Pour the cornstarch water while stirring quickly to thicken the sauce.
Finish with 1 tbsp sesame oil and serve over hot rice.
