INGREDIENTS
Fish
- 🐟 2 fillets mackerel
Vegetables
- 🧅 1/2 onion
- 1 bell pepper
Seasoning
- 🧂 Pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp potato starch
- 2 tsp salad oil
Sauce
- 2 tbsp sake
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 🍬 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp vinegar
Thickener
- 2 tsp potato starch
- 💧 2 tsp water
STEPS
Cut the mackerel into bite-sized pieces, sprinkle both sides with salt, and let sit for 10 minutes. Pat dry with paper towels and coat with potato starch.
Slice the onion and bell pepper into bite-sized pieces, removing the seeds from the bell pepper.
Heat salad oil in a frying pan over medium heat, place the mackerel skin-side down, and cook until browned. Flip and cook on low heat for about 2 minutes until cooked through. Remove and wipe off excess oil from the pan.
Using the same pan, stir-fry the onion and bell pepper until browned. Add the sauce ingredients and bring to a boil.
Return the mackerel to the pan, pour in the potato starch mixture, and stir until the sauce thickens.
