INGREDIENTS
Meat
- 200g pork loin (tonkatsu cut)
Vegetables
- 🥕 1/3 carrot
- 150g lotus root
- 2 bell peppers
Seasoning
- đź§‚ Pinch of salt and pepper
- 5 tbsp potato starch
- Enough salad oil for frying
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Sauce
- 1 tbsp sake
- 🍬 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 🍅 2 tbsp ketchup
- đź’§ 50cc water
- 1/2 tbsp potato starch
STEPS
Cut pork into bite-sized pieces, season with salt and pepper, and coat with potato starch.
Cut carrot into bite-sized chunks using a rolling cut method. Slice lotus root into 7mm thick pieces, soak in water, and drain. Cut bell peppers into bite-sized pieces after removing seeds and stems.
Mix all sauce ingredients in a bowl to prepare the sweet and sour sauce.
Heat salad oil in a pan to 170°C. Fry carrot and lotus root for about 2 minutes, then remove. Fry bell peppers briefly for 15 seconds and remove.
Fry the pork pieces until crispy, turning occasionally for about 2 minutes.
Remove excess oil and clean the pan. Add the sauce and simmer over medium heat until bubbling. Add the fried vegetables and pork, stirring to coat evenly.
Drizzle sesame oil over the dish before serving.
