INGREDIENTS
Main Ingredients
- 🦪 500g fresh mussels
- 🧅 1 medium onion, chopped
- 🧄 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 🍅 2 medium tomatoes, diced
- 1 tsp pepperoncino flakes
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp rice wine
- 🧈 1 tbsp butter
Optional Ingredients
- 2 tbsp tomato spaghetti sauce
- 🧀 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp dried herbs
STEPS
Heat olive oil in a pan and sauté minced garlic, chopped onion, and pepperoncino flakes until fragrant.
Add diced tomatoes and cook until softened. Optionally, peel the tomatoes for a smoother texture.
Add mussels and cook until they start to open. Pour in rice wine and cook on high heat until the alcohol evaporates.
Stir in butter and let it melt for added flavor. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
If desired, add 1-3 tbsp of tomato spaghetti sauce for extra flavor, but be cautious not to overpower the mussels' natural taste.
Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and dried herbs before serving.
