INGREDIENTS
Protein
- 🥩 1 pound ground beef
Oils
- 🥑 2 teaspoons avocado oil
Seasoning
- 🧂 2 tablespoons sea salt
Condiments
- 1/3 cup whiskey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
STEPS
Wet your hands, and form 2 (8-ounce) burgers; place on a plate, cover, and refrigerate until ready to grill. Cold meat works best.
Build a very hot hardwood charcoal fire using oak, mesquite, or hickory until coals are glowing red.
Rub burgers all over with avocado oil and coat with sea salt until completely covered.
Prepare a shallow bowl and pour whiskey into it; set aside.
Place burgers on the hottest spot of the grill and sear both sides, 2 minutes per side.
Transfer burgers to the bowl of whiskey and turn for 1 minute to rinse off most of the salt.
Place burgers back onto the hottest spot on the grill and sear both sides again for 2 minutes per side, optionally basting with whiskey.
Add soy sauce to another shallow bowl, place burgers in the bowl, and turn for 1 minute.
Return burgers to the grill for the final sear. Grill each side for about 2 minutes until desired doneness is reached.
