INGREDIENTS
Meat
- 150g ground meat
Vegetables
- 🥕 80g carrot, diced
- 🧅 1 onion, diced
- 3 turnips, peeled and quartered
- Leaves from 3 turnips, chopped
- 1/2 yellow bell pepper, sliced
Sauces and Seasonings
- 200cc unsalted tomato juice
- 1 tsp consomme
- 💧 300cc water
- 🧂 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Pizza cheese, as needed
- Parsley, as needed
White Sauce
- 🧈 20g salted butter
- 🥛 200cc milk
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 🧂 Salt and pepper, to taste
STEPS
Peel and quarter the turnips. Slice the yellow bell pepper and cut in half. Chop the turnip leaves, carrot, and onion.
In a pan, add turnips, consomme, and water. Cover and boil over medium heat until tender. Reserve 100cc of the cooking liquid.
In a microwave-safe container, add butter and cover loosely with plastic wrap. Heat at 600W for 30 seconds. Gradually add flour, mixing each time.
Add milk gradually while mixing. Season with salt and pepper. Cover loosely and microwave at 600W for 1 minute intervals, stirring each time, until thickened.
Heat olive oil in a pan. Sauté turnip leaves, onion, and carrot over medium heat until softened.
Add ground meat to the pan and cook until browned. Add tomato juice, salt, and reserved cooking liquid. Simmer until reduced.
Arrange turnips and yellow bell pepper in a baking dish. Layer with meat sauce, white sauce, and pizza cheese. Bake in a toaster oven for 20 minutes. Garnish with parsley.
