INGREDIENTS
Turkey Roast
- 🦃 1 (3 pound) Butterball boneless breast of turkey roast, thawed
- 🧄 2 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 🧂 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
Sandwich Ingredients
- 🍞 2 loaves Cuban, French, or Italian bread (15-inches long)
- ¼ cup honey mustard
- 8 ounces smoked ham
- 🧀 8 ounces sliced Swiss cheese
- 12 sandwich-style dill pickle slices
STEPS
Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly coat the cold grate with cooking spray. Arrange a drip pan on the grill.
Pat turkey dry with paper towels; discard gravy packet. Cut small slits over the entire turkey surface and insert garlic slices. Brush with oil.
Combine cumin, salt, and black pepper. Sprinkle over turkey.
Place turkey over the drip pan on the grill. Cook covered for 1 ¼ to 1 ¾ hours or until an instant-read thermometer reads 170°F (77°C).
Remove turkey from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes. Remove string netting and cut half into six ⅛-inch-thick slices. Refrigerate the unsliced portion for another use.
Halve bread loaves lengthwise and then cut each into 3 pieces for 6 sandwiches. Spread 2 teaspoons honey mustard on each bread bottom. Layer turkey slices, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and the top half of the bread.
Flatten the sandwiches with hands, tightly wrap each in aluminum foil, and grill. Weight sandwiches with an iron skillet or brick and cook for 3 to 5 minutes per side until heated through.
Serve sandwiches warm, wrapped in foil.
