Cut the cabbage into 2cm square pieces.

Make a slit in the mentaiko skin and extract the contents.

Place the cabbage and 1 tbsp of water in a microwave-safe container, cover loosely with plastic wrap, and microwave at 600W for 3 minutes. Drain excess water.

While the cabbage is still hot, add butter and mentaiko, mix roughly, then add black pepper and mix again.
